Jewelry Care at Home:

Wear it with care…

Your jewelry is made with precious metals which are comparably soft and can be damaged or malformed.  Be careful of actions which cause undue stress.  We strive to create durable pieces, but there’s a limit to what your jewelry can withstand.  Avoid pinching ear wires or mal-forming your piece in any way. Be aware of ‘catching’ it on something and pulling it out of shape. Continued flexing will cause fatigue in the metal over time, making it brittle and at risk of breaking.  Do your best to prevent spraying your jewelry with hairspray, perfumes or other products by donning your jewelry after your beauty regimen, and remove your jewelry when working with household (or other) chemicals, swimming, gardening, or any activities where it may be exposed to excessive perspiration or force.

If something happens where your piece is damaged, contact us so we can guide you to the best solution.  We do not recommend trying to fix it yourself.

Cleaning and Polishing…

Silver Jewelry:

Unfortunately, sterling silver tarnishes.  Common everyday items that contain sulfur, such as leather, rubber, chlorine, and perspiration, as well as air pollutants and salt water can accelerate the process. Do your best to prevent spraying your jewelry with hairspray, perfumes or other products by donning your jewelry after your beauty regimen, and remove your jewelry when working with household (or other) chemicals, swimming, gardening, or any activities where it may be exposed to excessive perspiration.  Wipe it down with a clean nub-free cotton cloth to cleanse it from any of these contaminants after each wear. Store it in the bag supplied with the interceptor tab.  The carbon-based tab helps to absorb oxygen aiding in tarnish prevention.  Use a polishing cloth for periodic spruce-ups.  To remove heavier tarnish, wash your silver jewelry with warm water and mild dish soap using a soft toothbrush.  Avoid using any dips or abrasive cleaners as they may erode the surface.  If you require a deeper cleaning, contact us.

Jewelry with leather included:

If your jewelry includes leather, you will need to keep it away from water or any other liquids.  If it gets wet, dry it off with a soft cloth quickly. To maintain the shine of the silver attached, use a polishing cloth regularly.  If you require a deeper cleaning, contact us

Be aware of how you store your leather jewelry when you aren’t wearing it.  Leather will take the shape of how it is laying over extended periods of time.  If it becomes mal-formed, try hanging it over a lamp shade (heat helps permeate it) or from a door knob and let gravity help out.  Wearing it works the best though!  Your body temp naturally softens the leather over time.

Jewelry with patina:

Patinas are a chemical reaction sealed on the surface of the metal (usually copper) with a resin or lacquer.  Avoid any products containing alcohol or solvents near or around the area with patina as they will erode the sealant and/or dissipate the patina. To maintain the shine of the silver attached, use a polishing cloth regularly.  For deeper cleanings, wash the silver with warm water and mild dish soap using a soft toothbrush, but try to avoid the area with patina and dry it immediately. If you require a deeper cleaning, contact us
